At 5am this morning, a fire was seen raging in the No.2 cold storage of The Hai Duy dragon fruit storehouse in the southern province of Binh Thuan. Local caretakers tried to intervene and also called the local firefighters.
Within a short period of time, dozens of firefighters and three fire trucks were sent to the scene to extinguish the fire. However, this spread quickly because of all the nylon bags and paper boxes present.
At around 8am, the firefighters controlled the fire completely but the fire destroyed nearly 300 tons of dragon fruit. One firefighter was injured and sent to the hospital. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
