After almost a year in the works, Earth Source Trading will be officially launching Corona-branded limes at PMA Fresh Summit next week in Orlando. The company recently announced plans to source and distribute the limes under an agreement brokered by The Joester-Loria Group and will oversee the procurement, packaging, and distribution. The Corona-branded limes will be available all year and are sourced from the Michoacán region in Mexico.
"Earth Source’s Corona branded limes will be specially selected for size and quality, providing consumers with the perfect limes to complement the number one imported beer brand in the United States," said William Ison of Earth Source Trading. "Corona has been the number one import beer in the U.S. for more than 20 years and is the number five overall beer brand in the country."
"We will feature the limes at the PMA Fresh Summit, October 18-20, 2018 in Orlando," he continued. "The six pack will also be featured in the Fresh Ideas Showcase."
6-pack limes the choice package
When deciding on the package size, Earth Source Trading found that a package of six limes worked the best. According to Ison, retailers were happy with that size although also being available in bulk. "These Corona limes will be packaged in both units of 6 packs of limes and bulk boxes," he shared. "The bulk Corona Limes are available for both foodservice and retail, however currently the pre-packed Corona 6 Pack Limes are more popular and only listed in retail stores."
At first, the limes are available in some stores in the northeast, with the company planning on expanding on that in the near future. "The Corona Limes are available in some northeast local independent retail store groups," Ison said.
One of the main points of difference compared with other produce items is that the Corona branded limes are intended to be sold in the beer aisle. This provides retailers an opportunity for additional sales in an area away from the produce section as well as the chance to cross market with beer sales. "Corona Limes & Corona Beer will always complement each other and especially so being displayed together within the beer aisle area, creating additional, ad-hoc as well as combo opportunities for lime and beer sales."

Opportunity to meet up with customers and peers at PMA
Ison said that PMA is a great opportunity to meet up with fellow produce professionals as well current and potential clients. In addition to the Corona limes, the company will also be showcasing their conventional and organic Green Bee citrus line, which is a combination pack of limes and lemons.
"Exhibiting at the PMA Fresh Summit is very important for Earth Source Trading," Ison observed.
