Bruñó Eco melon - a new sustainable variety for organic product lovers

At the upcoming Fruit Attraction fair, which will be held in Madrid from 23 to 25 October, Bruñó, a Spanish company devoted to the cultivation and sale of high-quality fruit, will have an original stand called "La Melonería". This will be used to be present the Bruño Eco Melon, a more sustainable variety for organic product lovers.

"La Melonería" will also be a platform to showcase the company's latest innovations in the melon sector.

The Bruñó Eco Melon is a high quality organic melon that is obtained through sustainable and environmentally-friendly agriculture. It is a product that is increasingly in demand and which Bruñó has devoted plenty of resources in recent months. "By adhering to organic cultivation processes, a top quality organic melon is obtained, with an intense and natural color, taste and aroma. The product can be supplied from mid-June to late October. With this variety, we have recovered traditional flavors without the use of phytosanitary processes or artificial fertilizers. This is the only way we can offer the best quality fruit with the least possible environmental impact," say company sources.

"We want to continue strengthening our position as a leading company in the field of innovation. That is why we work every day in the entire production chain, always looking for new varieties, while also applying the latest techniques," they explain. For now, the organic melon is sold in supermarkets and specialized stores on the domestic market.

At Fruit Attraction, Bruñó will also be placing the spotlight on its seedless black watermelon, a variety with excellent quality that is available from mid-February to the end of September. This watermelon has a characteristic dark and shiny skin, an intense red flesh, and a powerful and distinctive flavor. "Our challenge is to continue working with the fruit even before it is planted, following cultivation, harvesting, selection and packaging protocols, in order to be able to offer fresh products with the best quality, color and taste."

Bruñó and the constant search for innovation
Since 1977, Bruñó has been looking for the perfect melon. From the moment the company was founded, it has been renowned for the delivery of high quality fruit, (with a focus on melon and citrus fruits, like clementines, mandarins and oranges), which is offered all year round. In the spring and summer, the melons are grown in Spain. From autumn, they are imported from countries with a tropical climate, such as Brazil and Senegal, where a comparable quality is achieved.

The company's turnover has grown by 5% compared to last year. Melon accounts for 60% of the company's sales, with the Piel de Sapo representing about 20% of all exports. 50% of the watermelons and 75% of the citrus fruits are intended for the foreign market. The main destinations are the Scandinavian countries, Belgium, Germany, France, Italy and Poland.
