During the gala dinner on Thursday evening, the opportunity was used to thank a few loyal partners, companies and customers for their long-standing cooperation. It was also announced that the management will now be expanded. Two people will join the team: Johannes Günther and Eric Lefebvre. Friday was dedicated to the future of the freshcut industry, and Kronen am Rhein's production area in Kehl am Rhein hosted numerous machine demonstrations.

Management expansion
On Thursday evening there was a large celebration in the Offenburg Reithalle, where all Kronen GmbH employees, international partners and interested parties had gathered. The supporting program of the evening event was dominated by an acrobat and a buffet: in between these, the official part of the evening took place. The Lord Mayor of Kehl came to the stage to give a speech to the audience, adressing the Kronen team in particular. But also the board itself took this opportunity to announce a new milestone. The management is now being expanded with two new members. Johannes Günther has been a member of Kronen GmbH since 2000 and is now one of the familiar faces of the company. Eric Lefebvre has also shown outstanding performance in product development, safety and hygiene since joining the company in 2009. Stephan Zillgith will now take up the position of company spokesman, starting this work immediately.

Awards
As a market leader in the freshcut industry, Kronen GmbH attaches great importance to long-term cooperation and partnership. To accentuate this corporate strategy, four awards were given. The first prize went to Swiss company Seda-Freund, one of the first foreign partners of Kronen GmbH. The Swiss company also sent a magnificent commemorative plaque with 40 little crowns. The Israeli Muskat Technologies company and Spanish Danmix were also given  a special prize. Finally, the Töpfer GmbH Salate convenience store, based in Albertshofen, received a token of appreciation, both for its long-term cooperation and its commitment to promoting the freshcut industry in Germany.

Machine demos and international research
On Friday, a number of experts and machine suppliers were on site in Kronen's production hall to present the latest advances (and challenges) in the freshcut industry.

A large number of new and older processing lines from the Krone portfolio were demonstrated. Among them were the Spirello 150, KS-100 Plus and K 650, as well as well-known models such as pineapple and melon peeler AMS 220 and the GEWA washing system. There was also great attention for other stages in freshcut production, including packaging, disinfection and quality management.

The freshcut industry is a segment with great potential and endless opportunities. To find out today's and tomorrow's challenges, a large number of international scientists are currently engaged in research, the results of which were analyzed during the day.

The development of bacteria (including listeria) using pollination is one of the industry's biggest challenges. Disinfection will therefore play a very important role in the freshcut industry within the next few years. For machine builders, it would be all the more important to find a way to efficiently and effectively remove water and moisture. Because otherwise, a prevalence of infections could endanger production.
