Protected Denomination of Origin

Kaki Ribera del Xuquer celebrates its 20th anniversary

The Regulating Council of the Protected Denomination of Origin Kaki Ribera del Xuquer have decided to present their new campaign and celebrate the denomination's 20th anniversary in the Valencian town of L'Alcúdia. The event was attended by the cooperatives, people, and institutions that have worked to make this previously obscure product into one of the fruits with the greatest consumption growth in recent years.

A large institutional representation participated in the event, including the Valencian Regional Minister of Agriculture and Environment, Elena Cebrian, the mayor of the town, Andreu Salom, and the president of the Protected Designation of Origin Kaki Ribera del Xuquer, Cirilo Arnandis. The assistance of the Minister of the regional government and the main authorities of the area highlighted the importance that the commitment to producing differentiated quality has for the entire region. The kakis of the Persimon of the DO Ribera del Xúquer brand are a benchmark thanks to their know-how and experience, which has made it worthy of the maximum protection that the European authorities can give.

A new campaign, a new season
The Regulating Council of the Protected Denomination launched a comprehensive agenda of activities aimed at letting know consumers that the season has begun.

Lovers of the authentic Persimmon have had to wait almost a year to enjoy them. With one of the shortest seasons in the fruit sector, the bright red variety is expected to reach the public in its optimum conditions of flavor, texture, and aroma. It is an organoleptic experience that is guaranteed by the distinctive quality label.

Recognitions
The people responsible for the Protected Designation of Origin Kaki Ribera del Xuquer, headed by its president, Cirilo Arnandis, wanted to pay a tribute to the people who have contributed to make this brand a reality. They decided to give a recognition to the people or entities that have worked to position the agricultural sector and the kaki, in particular, among consumers. The regulatory council awarded the following people with a distinctive bronze figure:
➢ Jose Vicente Guillem. Valencia's Regional Ministry of Agriculture and Environment
➢ TVE - Aqui la Tierra Program.
➢ Silvia Soria, an agricultural food journalist that is responsible for programs such as El Forcat (Channel 9).
➢ Carmen Cabra - Fruit Today Magazine

A complete agenda of activities
The celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Denomination of Origin Ribera del Xuquer also served to share with the attendees the full agenda of activities scheduled to turn this commemoration into an opportunity to publicize the Persimmon Kaki and the Denomination of Origin to the general public.
