Brisbane charity auction – Mangoes sold for $13,000

Mangoes are quite revered among Aussies, and they seem set to  return to supermarket shelves with a big event. The annual mango auction held in Brisbane reminds us how far people are willing to go for a mango, and the event typically raises a fair bit of money for an important cause.

This year, the first tray of mangoes for the season has officially been sold at the charity auction for a whopping $13,000. Local fruit grocer Domenico Casagrande forked out the cash in support of the fruit itself, and the charities that would reap the benefits of the money.
