Chile promotes its lemons in the Japanese market

Chile's Citrus Committee has promoted the nutritional, antioxidant and moisturizing properties of Chilean lemons, which have a high content of vitamin C, throughout the summer in Japan, with different slogans, such as: The Chilean lemons are in season in the Japanese summer! or, What is good for health is nutritiously rich!

The https://chile-lemon.com/ website was developed to promote and disseminate the Chilean lemon. In it, users can find information related to its availability dates, the characteristics of the Chilean lemon, and market data.

In this website, Japanese consumers can learn that, since the Chilean lemons are produced in the counter-season, they are available from mid-June to early October in Japan.

In addition, they can learn about how the geographical conditions of Chile allow it to be the main exporter of fresh fruits of the southern hemisphere; that the country meets the highest international standards of Good Labor Practices, committed to the expectations of consumers who demand high quality products, that are fresh, and are produced via sustainable cultivation. The Chilean lemons stand out for their quality, flavor, color, firmness, and aroma.

Finally, they provide market data, such as the import volume of Chilean lemons to Japan, and the market share they have in the Japanese market. This activity has the support of ProChile.
According to a report of Chile's Citrus Committee, the country exported a total of 21,969 tons of lemons to the Far East up until week 37, i.e. the same amount it sent in the 2017 season by the same date. Of the total sent to said region, 83% corresponds to Japan with a total of 18,139 tons, an amount that is similar to that sent to Japan in 2017.
