China: Big variations n Leshan ginger prices

Leshan is famous for its ginger growing business. Now it can basically sell ginger all year round. This year's ginger has been sold at a maximum of 60 yuan/jin and a minimum wholesale price of 6 yuan/jin. The ginger grown in Leshan has different types such as young ginger, old ginger, medicinal ginger, turmeric, and white ginger. The price difference is also there, but it is not as big as this year.

This year, there was too much rain, which led to a low yield of ginger. Many ginger farmers do not want ginger to rot in the ground so they sell it earlier. A large number of gingers are on the market, and the price is down, but the quality of ginger is very different.

The original wholesale price of 60 yuan / jin of ginger, refers to organic ginger not grown using chemical, synthetic pesticides, fertilizers and other additives. This organic ginger is also popular among the public and has been sold to large cities such as Beijing and Shenzhen. The wholesale price of ginger commonly found in the vegetable market is about 6-9 yuan/jin.
