Clementine demand climbing in the US during fall

The South American clementine season continues on with availability expected to run through mid-November. Supplies are expected to remain steady as the fall season firmly arrives. Fall typically heralds an increase in clementine sales as school returns and consumers begin to turn their attention to fall fruits.

"LGS is currently sourcing Darling Clementines from the Southern Hemisphere - currently Chile - which are available year round with production continuing from other sources including Spain and Morocco starting mid-November," said Paul Coffman of LGS Specialty Sales, Ltd. "Supplies are steady with good availability across the entire Darling Citrus line (lemons, clementines, and navels) and overall crop quality has been very good. We are seeing high demand as the kids have headed back to school. Consumers look for clementines as being a great compliment to lunches or a even a pick-me-up snack. Also, as the fall weather approaches, demand continues to increase.” He also mentioned that “Working closely with each and every partner, LGS has secured an efficient supply which allows the brand to provide high quality and fresh product week in and week out."

New logo and new blog for LGS
Coffman stated that recently, LGS introduced a new logo for their entire citrus line which he said is receiving positive feedback from customers. Additionally, the company has launched a new blog, "Darling Dish", which is published once a week and contains recipes as well as crop information from growers.

“The blog is an opportunity for us to share our unique story and relationship with farmers around the world,” said Luke Sears, president and founder of LGS Specialty Sales, Ltd. “We want people to see a behind-the-scenes view of our company's culture and growing operations to cultivate a greater relationship and connect readers to stories from our groves abroad. Darling Dish subscribers are the first to hear about upcoming promotions, gain a closer look at grower’s fields, and learn about new products.”

PMA exhibit
LGS will be at PMA Fresh Summit this year at Booth #1761. This year, along with presenting its current season produce, including clementines, the company will be launching new packaging for its avocados.

"PMA Fresh Summit gives us an opportunity to see our customers face to face along with seeing all the new items available throughout the industry, such as packaging, new varieties, etc," Coffman shared. "This year, we will be launching the new Tiny Tim’s bags for mini avocados."
