Argentina's blueberry season has started and the export volumes so far this season have been lower than in the previous season, going from 246,375 kg in the second week of September 2017 to 113,934 kg in the same week of this year.
Even though the season is just starting, this volume indicates that the sector will experience a period of recession. The country shipped out a total of 114 tons to its different destinations in week 37.
The United Kingdom was the main destination with 47 tons, i.e. 41% of the total, followed by Continental Europe with 43 tons (38%). The decline in shipments to the United States, a very important market for Argentina's blueberry, has also been considerable, as they went from 612,404 kg last year, to 208,024 kg in the same period of this season.
