New buildings for Hoogsteder Group: First pile driven into the ground

By mid-2019, the Hoogsteder Group, part of fruit and vegetable company The Greenery, will move into a new distribution center of approximately 8,000 m² (with 1,250 m² of office space) in the Prisma Bedrijvenpark in Bleiswijk. The first pile of the new building was hammered into the ground on Saturday September 8th, with the aid of an archaic pile driver.

The future-proof distribution center will be provided with, among other things, packaging areas, one of which is specially certified for Japan. Part of the distribution center is certified for air freight shipments. At the new location, the current number of 13 loading and unloading docks will be almost doubled, to 23. In addition to this, a modern office space will house more than 50 employees. Air freight carrier Blue Sky Cargo, which is currently located at a different location from the other parts of the Hoogsteder Groep, will also move to the new center.

Director Frans Scholts of Hoogsteder Group, specialist regarding the sales of fruit and vegetables in France, Italy, Switzerland, the USA and the Far East, is pleased with the new accommodations. "It will be a big step forward. We will have centralized our commercial and logistic activities at one location: it will improve efficiency and future-proofing. Apart from that, the building is also more modern and sustainable, including the latest cooling techniques and the use of LED lighting. We will continue to develop our activities from this new location."
