"Only Dutch onions go to all corners of the earth year-round"

Approximately 95% of the Dutch onion harvest is destined to be exported. Last year, more than 1.1 million tons of onions were sent to 130 countries. The onion has, therefore, proved itself to be a real globetrotter. It is sold all over the world. This is because only the Netherlands has the means and capacity to supply fresh onions year-round. This is how Gijsbrecht Gunter, chairman of the Holland Onion Association sums up onion exports from the country.
