Tamaulipas consolidates itself
Mexico: One which send more lemons to the U.S.

In 2011 Tamaulipas has consolidated its leading position nationally as one of the lemon exporters to the United States.

For this there is a marketing strategy by the state authorities for trade abroad to encourage producers who have potential in different areas.

Juan Báez Rodríguez, Chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the League of Agrarian Communities, said that in the case of the Italian lemon, 25,000 tons of citrus were sent to the neighboring country market, which were harvested in the municipalities of Güemes, Padilla, Hidalgo and Victoria, with an outlay of US$30 million.

And to expand sales to foreign markets, he said, the authorities of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food sent samples of their products such as tomato to Holland and Germany, and honey to Japan.

Among the export products that have been consolidated, he referred to, are onions, tomatoes, aloe and lemons.
