Mexico: Mi Guayavita exports guava to the US

Santiago Hernández from Mi Guayavita, talks about tendencies in the added value of the fresh Mexican guava.

With only one year of activity in the United States market, Mi Guayabita presents a big variety of added value products derived from the guava that already have an established position in Mexico as well as in Central America.

Mi Guayavita promotes the fresh and processed guava (conserves, marmalades, and jellies among others) from the production region of Aguas Calientes in Central Mexico. Mr. Hernández underlines that the quality of the guava is responsable for the opening to the external market.

About 150 producers from 300 acres come from the company and through a well worked process by Mi Guayabita to reach the wide selection offered.

The main clients are, for now, the Hispanic market, but little by little, Anglo-Saxons are getting to know the product, either through fairs in which Mi Guayabita is present, or through food tastings realized in the markets.

Mi Guayabita is promoting its products in important fairs such as Fruit Logistica in Germany and in Japan.
