US (FL): Nearly $2 million in cocaine found in bananas

Nearly $2 million worth of cocaine was seized from a ship at the Port of Wilmington last Sunday by officers from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection inspecting cargo.

Information on the seizure was released today.

The container of bananas arrived aboard the M/V Dole Chile, which routinely brings fresh produce from Central America to Wilmington.

Before making port in Wilmington, the ship made calls in Colombia, Costa Rica and Honduras, and in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
