Marks & Spencer add tomatoberry to assortment
Big Tomatoberry; heart shaped cherrytomato

During the last few years many new vegetable varieties were improved. Often these new varieties were of first class quality, but the appearance was nothing new. The Japanese seed improving company Tokita Seed have changed this with the Tomatoberry. The Tomatoberry is a heart shaped cherry tomato. On the outside the tomato looks somewhat like a strawberry and has a deep red colour. The tomato variety has a high lycopene content and also has a high brix.
The English supermarket chain Marks & Spencer have chosen the Tomatoberry for their shelves, because they reckon the variety is innovative and suitable for the consumer. It is of interest, that Marks & Spencer have decreased the offer of tomatoes, but through a promotion campaign added to Tomatoberry.

The Tomatoberry is of great importance to
Tokita Seed. The tomatoes weigh 18/20 gr, but the seed improvement company hope to introduce a new variety weighing 35/40 gr. shortly. This tomato will be called 'Big Tomatoberry'. Tokita Seed is also investigating the possibility to add new colours to the variety.
