Egypt: AGREEN, Middle East pioneers

EL BANNA Group Companies are the Middle East market pioneers in many industries like poultry, agricultural and tourism. Green Egypt for Agricultural Investment (AGREEN) is a member of the El Banna Group which is noted as the biggest producer of Navel and Valencia oranges in Egypt.

AGREEN owns 3000 acres of orange groves in Wadi El Molak as well as 9000 acres in the Wadi El Notron area. AGREEN produces up to 60,000 tons per year of Navel and Valencia oranges, with an annual increase of 25%.  AGREEN enjoys the best quality of oranges in Egypt. In the past it employed the strategy of indirect exporting by selling its production to Egyptian exporters. In 2007, this practice changed and AGREEN has conquered the exporting field, exporting its production directly to all foreign importers. AGREEN now a days has a pack-house in Wadi El Molak city.

AGREEN farms
AGREEN Farms has been EUREPGAP certified for many years for the planting areas, and this certification is renewed every year. AGREEN is now reclaiming new lands in which to plant new orange varieties with the aim of increasing the production capacity of the company. AGREEN has citrus nurseries in which it grows the best root stocks, only certified seed sources are used.

AGREEN pack-house
AGREEN constructed a pack-house for oranges in the Wadi El Molak area, using high quality equipment and high tech modern machines. The production capacity of the pack-house is 50,000 tons a year. AGREEN established its Pack-House with the highest levels of technology in mind; equipment and machines have been imported from reputable suppliers of pack-house equipment from all over the world with the main factory in Italy. AGREEN employs a hiring strategy based on supplying the firm with professional personnel so that they not only promise but can guarantee the best quality of oranges, operations and work flow. The pack-house was established in accordance to the EFSIS norms for companies supplying food products (issued July 2002) incorporating the requirements of the BRC global standard–food (issued April 2002).
