Fred Koelewijn of Helena
"Positive development in import of Cypriot herbs and vegetables"

Fruit and vegetable company Helena specialises in the sale of tropical vegetables. The company deals with their own growers, both locally and abroad. In this way Helena has its own cultivation company with an area of about 100 HA on Cyprus. "The cultivation in Cyprus is on the increase. I expect to expand even more in the future" Fred Koelewijn tells.

The most important products of the Cypriot company are herbs (coriander), ochre and spinach. "We cultivate virtually all year round" says Fred. "During the summer months it is too hot for spinach for instance, but apart from that all Cypriot vegetables are available all year round from Helena ."

"Our imported herbs are packed in volumes as required by the customer" Fred continues. The quality of Cypriot herbs is, according to the fruit and vegetable trader, on a par with Israeli products. As a result of the favourable weather conditions Koelewijn also imports a large quantity from the Dominican Republic.
