Pico gears up for Far East expansions

Egyptian producer and leading exporter Pico Modern Agriculture Company is attending Asia Fruit Logistica 2009, seeking to expand its network of long-term partners, set up strategic alliances and boost its current activities in Far Eastern markets.

PICO Modern Agriculture Company has long been established with export experience of more than 25 years to UK’s leading supermarkets and retailers, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, South Africa and Gulf countries. Over the past years, the company has gained experience in the Far East through dealings in Hongkong, Mauritius, Reunion, Malaysia and Singapore, and is now eying at increasing business there and expanding to neighboring countries like Thailand.

With a long-term vision for the region and its fast evolving markets, PICO has increased its production volumes, and is looking for partnerships that offer the potential to increase exports of premium quality strawberries, grapes and stone fruits to Asia. During Asia Fruit Logistica 2009, PICO will launch its new citrus products, namely Navel and Valencia oranges. Egyptian oranges are harvested in a special window between the harvests of the Northern and Southern hemisphere, and there is a high demand for them in the Asian markets.

The company holds several certifications including BRC, GlobalGap, TNC, HACCP, ETI and is SEDEX registered.

Geographically, Egypt is very well placed to supply markets in both the East and the West. Moreover, logistics have improved significantly over the previous years, meaning higher vessel availability and shorter transit times to the Far East.
