China - LATAM: Promotion and activities of the fruit sector

China is an increasingly common reality in the South American fruit sector.

Chile and Peru are already common suppliers of the Chinese market, and their products mainly grapes, mangoes and stone fruit have been tailored to China’s requirements for quality and condition.

The lack of knowledge in the way of doing business as well as building reliable networks which are strong and durable, in turn forming durable and reliable platforms are radically affecting the progress of the sector in China.

Still, last season the direct shipment of Chilean grapes to China increased by 300% compared to the previous season.

We must have a presence not only in the business per se, but also in other areas that our competitors have for years developed quite successfully.

What about training the retail sector in China? What about topics such as handling, display and marketing of fresh fruit to the local Dealer?

Do we invest enough in advertising to stimulate sales and turnover of our products in wholesale markets and retail outlets in China?

What happens to our country's participation in events and fairs in the Chinese area?

Do we know and can we identify the players involved in the marketing chain of fruit en route?

Faced with these challenges and with the clear purpose of raising awareness and generating structures and innovative propositions in business, there are other options to explore in China.

SFT - Fresh purchase and logistics offers the possibility to enter the fruit selling world in China, it’s the opportunity to connect with importers, agents, authorities and the retail market. It complements perfectly with other events taking place in the area at that time, since Shenzhen is located less than 1 hours travel overland from Hong Kong.

Being able to capitalize on the successes and failures in an Eastern cultural background is a different matter.

Without a doubt, the only way to overcome obstacles in China is to increase the presence and understand the ancient culture, it is essential to create links in personal relationships to advance in the conquest of this vast market.
