Hot potato roasts the competition at TVNZ - NZ Marketing awards

T&G’s award-winning, lower carb Lotatoes™, launched last year, has scooped yet another top award at the sell-out TVNZ–NZ Marketing Awards held at the Cordis Hotel in Auckland.

Now in their 27th year, the awards celebrate those who not only deliver on business strategy but also lead their business forward in new and innovative ways.

The awards, held last evening, were hotly contested with Lotatoes™ up against other high-profile brands such as Vogels, Whittakers, Skinny and Samsung in the Best Marketing on a Shoestring Budget category.

Grown sustainably and naturally bred on in Pukekohe and Ohakune, Lotatoes has 40% less carbs and fewer calories than other commonly available varieties.

“Our innovative, lower carb spud was a long time in the making, but it was worth the wait. They have taken the country by storm,” says Michelle Singh, T&G marketing manager – NZ. Potatoes had been out of favour with some people, being replaced by kumara or simply forgotten about. But through our campaign, we’ve put spuds back on the shopping list and we are stoked about our latest acknowledgement.”

The Lotatoes Marketing campaign was supported by Tenfold agency plus strong PR and social media activity from T&G’s internal marketing and PR team plus The PR Shop.

It centred around the understanding of consumer needs, clever brand ideation designed to support the sell through in Countdown stores.
