INNOVAGRO is an international network for the management of innovation in the agricultural food sector. It is a space where companies from all over the world can exchange their experiences and technological advances. The goal is to promote and disseminate a culture of innovation among the agricultural food sector agents, and cooperation and exchange of information and services in Latin America and Europe.
The Tecnova Technological Center has been part of this institution since 2015, and it has actively participated in the actions promoted by the Network, giving lectures, organizing technical exchange meetings, sharing information on their innovations and, in this case, being a candidate for the INNOVAGRO Awards.
The INNOVAGRO Awards are an international initiative aimed at recognizing the institutions and organizations that stand out for their contribution in the creation and / or management of innovation initiatives in the agricultural food sector, with an emphasis on technological, institutional, social, and organizational innovations developed to meet the needs of the sector.
The purpose of this award is to promote a culture of innovation in the agricultural food sector, stimulate and disseminate innovations that contribute to improve the sector's productivity, competitiveness, and sustainability; valuing the effort, solutions and originality of alliances, consortia, platforms, companies and institutions for the benefit of agricultural food chains. To achieve this, the Innovation Management Network of the Agricultural Food Sector, INNOVAGRO Network, published an international call to all its members to participate in the fifth edition of the INNOVAGRO 2018 Awards.
Tecnova was invited to participate and presented its AGRISECH and INJEROBOTS projects in the social and technological innovation categories, respectively. It was awarded in the technological innovation category with the first prize for Its INJEROBOTS project (Universal Robotics System for the Grafting of Seedlings), which aims to develop a flexible and universal system for automated seedling grafting, based on anthropomorphic robots. In the words of Director Mari Carmen Galera: "Tecnova intends to be an active and participative member of the Innovagro Network by contributing its knowledge and almost 20 years of experience in the sector, as well as that of its more than 120 companies. We aim to be a role model of cooperation and joint collaboration to help improve their competitiveness, profitability, and productivity."
The awards' evaluation process was carried out with the support of the Ibero-American Program of Science and Technology for Development (CYTED) which is integrated by the Universities of Chile, Spain, Brazil, Honduras, and Portugal. They analyzed the project's potential application, the development capacity of the actors, the generation of value networks, the degree of originality and territorial scope, among other things.
The award ceremony will take place on October 26, 2018, at the VIII INNOVAGRO Meeting, which will be held at the La Molina Agrarian University in Lima, Peru. Tecnova has also been invited to technical exchange meetings on successful experiences and strategies for the generation of partnerships between institutions to encourage the development of collaborative innovation projects. It will also participate in an international seminar on the subject: Integrating technology into agricultural food innovation with a panel on the Injerobots project
