Swifter import of fresh fruit with direct harvest distribution

Suning and Zespri reach cooperation agreement

The online retail giant Suning reached a cooperation agreement with Zespri during the Asia Fruit Logistica on September 5th, 2018. Zespri will supply Suning with high-quality imported products. Suning also held trade negotiations with the Chilean cherry committee for direct purchase of Chilean fruit. Suning works hard to provide Chinese consumers with a greater variety of high-quality fruits imported from overseas.

The Chinese market share of Zespri was worth more than 500 million New Zealand dollars (2.2 billion yuan [320 million USD]) in the financial year of 2017, which is an increase of 17.4% in comparison with the previous year. Suning provides an international lifestyle platform and continuously strives to establish direct purchases from overseas. Suning has close cooperation with companies in 147 countries and territories, and more than 100 overseas centers where employees select only the highest-quality products.

This agreement between Suning and Zespri will strengthen their cooperation in areas such as branding and market activities. Consumers will be able to buy kiwifruit at an affordable price through the online and offline retail platforms of Suning.

Suning also entered negotiations with several high-quality cherry traders, including the Chilean cherry committee. A spokesperson for Suning International explained that Suning will focus in the second half of this year on the selection of high-quality cherry suppliers from traditional cherry production areas, including Chile, Australia, and New Zealand.
