Asia Fruit Logistica 2018 gets off to good start

Asia Fruit Logistica got underway today with more exhibitors than last year and more visitors than were expected. There was a steady flow throughout the day. As well as individual stands there were many country stands, Australia had increased in size again this year and Spain was very noticeably larger than last year and many companies who have previously exhibited in joint stands have now invested in their own stands.

Seeka were present with all board members on the stand in the Australian pavilion

Latin America has a big presence, many companies explain that they are waiting for China to open for products such as bananas from Mexico, yellow pitahaya from Ecuador and even lemons from Argentina in the future. Some exhibitors are here to create awareness for when the market opens, but most of them do business with the rest of Asia as well.

As for pineapples from Costa Rica or blueberries from Argentina, it's a different story as the products recently got access and can actively look for potential clients now. This results in companies returning as exhibitors and companies who are here for the first time now.

This morning the new joint venture between Val Venosta, Rivoira and RKGrowers was announced. It will be known as Omnifresh, because “its sound pleases the Asian ear.” The joint venture focuses on bringing sweet and crispy apples on the Asian market. The Ambrosia apple is one of their flagship varieties.

Most French and Belgian exhibitors agree that the exhibition is getting better each year. The meetings are of good quality, and many see new opportunities to develop the Asian market.

In the Dole Asia stand many visitors admired the Piña Bar. This machine peels and cuts pineapples instantly and is mainly sold to retailers.

Shenzhen Kingship Co. Ltd with business partners at press conference

This year the number of Chinese companies increased compared to last year. A lot of new companies joined Asia Fruit Logistica to find more exposure for their brand and products. For example, Gyaldar is new fruit export company from Myanmar. Great-Sun Foods Co.,Ltd confirmed that the exhibition space is much larger than last year and therefore it seems less busy.

Shenzhen Kingship Co., Ltd held a press conference, where chairman Ben Li demonstrated their cooperation with the Chilean blueberry and cherry partners Juan de Dios and Ignacio Caballero. Both press conferences received a lot of attention from the audience and they even put a limit on the available seats.
