A dynamic analysis of China's apple market

In the layout of China's apple growing industry, 90% of the growing area is distributed in eight provinces of Shaanxi, Shandong, Gansu, Shanxi, Henan, Hebei, Liaoning, and Xinjiang. Since 2016, the national apple growing area has become basically stable. However, there is a region where the apple area is still increasing significantly. This is the apple planting area in Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan Plateau, which is concentrated in Zhaotong, Yunnan, Weining, Guizhou, and Yanyuan, Sichuan.

The total area of apples in the Yunnan-Guichuan Plateau is currently more than 1.6 million mu, and the output is close to 1 million tons. The number is not large, but the development of plateau apples is very fast, which is mainly reflected in the four major advantages:

First, the apples matured early and entered the market early.

Second, the apples have a high sugar content, juicy and full of sweet and sour taste, with no extra sediment. High-quality plateau apples can reach 17-18 degrees of Brix and ordinary fruit can reach 14-16 degrees.

Third, low cost and high efficiency. In the new production area of the Yunnan-Guichuan Plateau, the number of pests and diseases is small and less pesticide is used. The labor price is low and the selling price is very high.

Fourth, the location is good and the market is close. The South is the main market for apples. The apples in the Yunnan-Guichuan Plateau are very close to Guangdong, Guangxi, Hunan, and Hubei.
