Shouguang, a key area in the vegetable industry, suffered severe damage. The supply shortage that was the result of extreme weather conditions added to the sudden price increase. The average price of vegetables increased by 2-4 yuan [0.29-0.59 USD], while the price of green vegetables increased by 6 yuan [0.88 USD] or in some cases even as much as 20 yuan [2.93 USD].
