Christophe Godard, Agence Laparra:

"France: "Good season for stone fruits"

"Even though it was a slightly tumultuous year, overall the French stone fruit season was quite good," says Christophe Godard of Agence Laparra. Hail storms destroyed much of the harvest. "But on the positive side, the reduced quantities allow for a good price level. Despite the small quantities, we managed to serve our customers."

The weather conditions were particularly difficult for blood peaches and nectarines. "After the hailstorms, hot weather caused the fruit to become inert at maturity. The harvest was disappointing compared to what we expected."

The blood peaches and nectarines offered by Agence Laparra are the Necta Vigne and the Pêche de Vigne. "They are peaches and nectarines that have red skin and flesh. Their taste is different from the taste of peaches and nectarines that are normally found in supermarkets. We have been selling them for a long time already."

According to Christophe, there is a good demand for these products. "The customer is loyal. This is a culinary clientele, looking for something that’s out of the ordinary. There are restaurateurs among our customers who use nectarines and blood peaches to accompany the dishes: not only desserts, but also wild game."
