North Carolina grower hires Vince Ferrante as Executive VP
Southern Belle Organics has brought 30 year produce veteran Vince Ferrante on board as Executive Vice President to help facilitate their expansion to organic and conventional vegetables and provide valuable insight into the company's large organic berry farm, packing and cooling facility expansions.
Ferrante worked for 20 years helping to manage Teixeira Farms, his wife’s family business before moving to Dole Fresh Vegetables and later to manage Dole Berry Companies West Coast and Mexico berry operations. He has since worked as the COO of a major sweet potato company in North Carolina and recently was the VP of Business Development of Dave’s Specialty Imports while leading their expansion of domestic berry production and farming operations.
As Southern Belle Organics looks to reshape how the Southeastern part of the state can farm other crops, Ferrante will partner with Brick and Jenny Rooks on future expansion and additional business ventures. “Brick and I have a similar vision on how we can bring West Coast agriculture particularly the tender leaf baby type lettuce to our region of North Carolina”, said Ferrante.
“With the increased demand for local and regional produce, we feel that North Carolina can play a key role to provide quality vegetables to support sourcing needs in the East on a year around basis, and Vince has the experience and industry knowledge that will help make that happen”, Rooks said.
