China: Korla pear prices - highest in years
A meeting of the Korla Pear Association of Pazhou on August 20, has estimated the production volumes, the harvest time and the acquisition guide price of Korla Pear in 2018.
The production output for 2018 was 288,000 tons, which was 70.6% lower than that in the same period of 2017 and 55.6% lower than the same period in 2016.
Since the flowering time in 2018 was 4 to 5 days earlier than in previous years, the harvest in 2018 is determined as: the test picking on August 28, 2018, and the official picking on September 2, 2018.
The suggested purchase price of the standard Korla pear and the high quality Korla pears (≥¥ 90g) from the main production area along the Peacock River are: 8 yuan/kg and 10 yuan/kg respectively. The suggest purchase price of general Korla pears is 6-7 yuan / kg.
According to the current actual purchase price feedback from various producing areas, the actual local purchase price in 2018 has exceeded 10 yuan/kg. This is the first time that Korla Pear price has exceeded double digits in the past 60 years.
