"Fresh e-commerce: Fastest growth in "new first tier" and "second tier" cities"

"Ji Guang Big Data", one of China's leading data service providers, recently announced that in the period until July 2018 the online trade of fresh products through the app increased by 3.44%. There are now 37.88 million users, which is an increase of 99.6% in comparison with the same period last year. As for distribution, the highest proportion of users is located in first tier cities, but their number has steadily decreased in the last year. The places where the number of users is growing are in "new first tier" and "second tier" cities.

Distribution and age of fresh e-commerce app users

There were more women than men who used the app in the last year. The proportion of women was 55.6%, which is an increase of 1% in comparison with the same period last year. There is also a clear concentration of users in the age range 26-35 years old. As many as 57.1% of the users were 26-35 years old. Only 22.5% of the users were 25 years or younger, which is an increase of 4% in comparison with the same period last year.

Most app users are located in first tier cities, but their number is falling. Only 36.2% of app users live in first tier cities, which is a decrease of 8.9% in comparison with the same period last year.

At the same time, the number of app users in "new first tier" and second tier cities is visibly growing. Data shows that 27.2% of app users live in new first tier cities, while 15.7% of app users live in second tier cities. Data clearly shows that most of the app users are young people in first and second tier cities.
