China: National pear production has fallen sharply
"Affected by extreme weather such as frosts this year, pear trees in the main production areas of Hebei, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Shandong and other major areas have been seriously damaged during the flowering period. The national pear production has decreased significantly compared with previous years, and the overall supply has decreased. The market price of fresh pears is higher." Mr. Pang of Botou Panglong Fruits Products Co., Ltd. of Botou City, Hebei Province, said in an interview with the FreshPlaza.
"The fresh pear season in Hebei started in early July. Due to the sharp drop in production, buyers have been rushing to buy pears from the production area, hoping to sell them after the price has risen further. This has caused the purchase price to soar."
"We have our own and cooperative fresh pear planting base in Hebei, which mainly sells Crown Pears. The products are mainly exported to Europe, Russia and Southeast Asian countries. Relatively speaking, exports to Southeast Asia and Russia are larger, mainly due to the large population in these regions and their taste preference for pears is similar to that of Chinese."
They will attend The Asian Fruit and Vegetable Exhibition in Hong Kong. Their booth will be located in Hall 5b/C01.
