Mooy Logistics bankrupt; curator looking into starting up again

On Tuesday 14 August, the court in The Hague declared Mooy Logistics BV and Mooy Beheer BV from Waddinxveen bankrupt. In 2016, H.Z. Logistics from De Lier gained a majority interest in Mooy Beheer. The company reports that the curators assigned by the court are now looking into whether starting up again in whichever way possible is an option. They will also look into the interests of customers and suppliers. During the coming months the company will remain open.

The company has given the following explanation for the bankruptcy:

In November 2016 HZM Holding BV acquired a majority interest in Mooy Beheer BV (‘Mooy’). Up till that moment, Mooy had been operating loss-making since 2011. After the takeover, a reorganisation was started right away, which included reducing our own fleet and making it younger, a new transport management system was installed, new maintenance agreements had been made regarding the fleet so that maintenance costs dropped considerably, and redundant staff was let go so that structural savings were made and would be made on permanent labour costs.

These improvements and savings, however, were insufficient to bring operational performance to a sufficiently professional level, so that larger customers pulled out. In the meantime, sister company HZ Logistics BV supplied considerable capital injections to continue ensuring continuity of Mooy. After a careful improvement of returns and margins during April and May 2018, June and July were once again very disappointing, so that additional considerable capital injections were necessary to keep up continuity and to continue meeting current and new obligations.

Due to the lack of a realistic perspective, the shareholders therefore had to decide to file their petition in bankruptcy for Mooy Beheer BV and its subsidiary Mooy Logistics BV. On Tuesday 14 August 2018, the court of The Hague declared the bankruptcy. Martijn Vermeeren of lawyer’s office Buren Legal and Bas Ebels of lawyer’s office Udink Schepel Advocaten have been appointed as curators.

Mooy Beheer supplied a complete range of logistical services from branches in Waddinxveen and Breda. This range includes conditioned (joint cargo) transport to Germany, France and the Benelux, as well as transport of complete freights throughout Europe. Besides, the storage and transfer of conditioned products, container settlement, customs formalities, quality inspections, (re)packing and other VAL activities were part of the logistical services.
