Transport of plums began on July 25th this year. This is one week early in comparison to the beginning of plum transport last year. The production volume increased because the surface area devoted to plum production increased. Kashgar Freight Transport Manager Li Jian of China Southern Airlines said that "Kashgar airport moves about 50 tons of freight every day, and plums account for around 80% of that."
