Turkey: Watermelon harvest started in Inegol, Bursa

The Watermelon harvest has started in Inegol, a town in Bursa, on a production area of 2 million square feet. The expectation is for 2,000 tons of production and all the products are grown without any water. The quality appears to be high and the demand is very high for the products from this area, as they are more tasty and juicy compared to watermelons from other production areas. Some of the growers have started receiving pre-orders before the harvest has even started which is also a good indicator of high demand and the quality of these watermelons. The price of watermelon is right now around 0.22 USD per kg.

Watermelon production was started as a hobby by a grower in the area but once he succeeded, a lot of people in the area started to grow watermelons and it has become a significant source of income for the area.
