Haiti: Agricultural sector looking for foreign partners

“The country is known for its production possibilities of tropical produce, such as mangoes. However, production varies from papaya, to citrus, avocado, watermelons, yams, bananas and even fresh flowers from different parts of the hills around the country. Now the country is looking for agricultural foreign partners, in order to organize and market it´s great variety of tropical goods”, states Frantz Reid, Esq. a local attorney at law and land owner in Haiti.

He explains that agricultural joint ventures with foreign groups is the next step in bringing income and development to the country. “Our land is good, the conditions for bio production are there, salary scale is fair and we have a proper location, only 1.5 hours away by air from Florida, USA. Haiti could be an interesting place to look at for investments and to be part of the agriculture.”

“Haiti was once the crown jewel of the French Colonial empire. It’s well known for its production possibilities for tropical produce. In our opinion, the serious deforestation problem is not impeding things. The country can use foreign parties that can help to establish modern farms and secure foreign markets for a variety of crops”, concludes Frantz.
