Honduras: Possibility of new markets for fruit

According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture, during the first half of this year agricultural exports in general grew by 15%. However, the price of several of these products fell in the international markets.

The products with the highest export volume so far were the traditional products, such as coffee, bananas, cocoa, as well as fresh fruits and vegetables; if things continue this way, these exports could grow by more than 20% by the end of the year.

It is a real possibility, especially when taking into account that a large number of non-traditional products are already reaching important markets, such as Spain and Taiwan, which are eager to have suppliers of good quality fresh fruit.

Last year alone, the country's agricultural exports amounted to more than 2.6 billion dollars. This year's goal is to surpass that number, and for the moment it seems it will be possible to do so.
