At double the price

China: Large quantities of Weifang grapes on the market

Recently, the grapes produced in Weifang have been on the market in large quantities, and the price is about twice as expensive as in the same period last year. This year's grape taste is not bad, however the sales volume has decreased compared with previous years, mainly because the price is expensive. The greenhouse grown grapes have been on the market since May. Due to several cold snaps and hail this year, the damage to the growers is more serious. In July, the local open-air grown grapes should have been on the market in large quantities. In the end they were delayed, so most grapes on the market at the moment are greenhouse grown grapes and southern grapes, which are relatively expensive.

According to industry insiders, prices will fall as large quantities of grapes go on the market in August, but the price is maintaining at a relatively stable level. September is the regular low period of grape prices, not to mention that this year is a high-yield year. Although the National Day will bring more sales, the price of grapes is likely to decline if there is price reduction.
