Grégorie Balanger, Ets Monloup :

"France: "High demand for fresh-cut products because of hot weather"

In April 2017, the French company Ets Monloup introduced their fresh-cut range. The range immediately expanded. Grégorie Balanger, Sales Director: "The more complicated products are to prepare, the more popular they are. Pineapple, coconut and pomegranate all do very well."

Monloup sells its products mainly to the French supermarkets. "Right now, the weather’s hot and there’s a good demand for fresh cuts. The products are easy to bring to the beach, for example. Our trays of cucumber, carrot and beetroot are very much in demand for small salads."

The act of repurchasing
"Our products differ from the fresh cut line found in supermarkets before, because they are of the superior quality that we normally find with retailers and specialists. These are totally healthy products, without additives. Consumers love them and rebuy them.”

Monloup is located at Rungis Market. "We taste the products every day. If a product does not suit us, we have the biggest market in the world to find another one."

The airplane mango
"Another reason for the success of the fresh-cut range is the airplane mango. Normally, customers of a supermarket do not have access to the airplane mango they find in our trays. Once consumers taste it, they know there’s a big difference. When we bring something good to the people, they will buy it. If it is not excessive, the price is of secondary importance."

"Fresh cutting is the best way to make people eat fruit and vegetables, especially children. It is ready to eat, and can replace the industrial products we ate before, such as cookies and pastries."

Monloup is a family business created in 1927. The company mainly is a partner of French, Italian, and Spanish producers. They offer a wide range of fruits and vegetables, such as topfruit, exotics, stonefruits, melons, citrus fruits, onions and seasonal vegetables.
