Real-time shipment tracker gets reusable and rechargeable option

During the United Fresh 2018 convention in Chicago, Emerson announced the launch of the GO Real-Time Reusable Tracker. This is a newer version of the existing GO Real-Time Tracker but allows customers to recharge and reuse the device. According to Emerson, the new reusable trackers are designed for overland shipments.

"GO Real-Time Reusable Trackers are designed for use over the road in scenarios where customers own their trucks and/or control both the start and end point of a shipment," said Juliette Giles of Emerson. "The GO Real-Time Reusable Trackers have a battery life that lasts up to 60 days. They can also be used on ocean shipments if the user is able to retrieve the device to reuse. However, for air or ocean container shipments where our customers are unable to retrieve and reuse the devices, we recommend that they purchase single-use GO Real-Time or GO Real-Time XL Trackers."

Monitoring shipments in real time
As the name suggests, the GO Real-Time Reusable Trackers allows companies to track and monitor their produce while it's in transit. The devices work with an online 'dashboard' where users can log in and see the status of their shipment as well as generate reports according to a schedule or on demand. They can also receive alerts when user-defined thresholds are exceeded for things such as light and temperature.

"The GO Real-Time Reusable Trackers and cloud based dashboard known as Oversight," Giles explained. "The dashboard allows users to customize their site with specific temperature ranges, geo-fence locations, and alert escalation levels. The Oversight reports dashboard also allows users to generate reports on the fly or schedule detailed reports on a daily or weekly basis. Users can customize and set location, light and temperature alert thresholds on the dashboard or by using our app, Oversight Mobile."

Giles added that both the desktop and mobile versions are available internationally and in multiple languages. "The mobile application is available in a variety of languages including Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, German, Turkish, and Chinese," she said. "We have offices in Latin America, Europe, Asia and North America to provide local sales and support."

Recycling program
Emerson has implemented a recycling program called "GO Greensense", which enables customers using the reusable trackers to send them back once used or when the battery is eventually exhausted. The company provides boxes and postage labels to make it simpler for the user to return them.

"Our GO GreenSense recycling program facilitates the return of our GO Tracker and Logger products for proper battery and component recycling," Giles shared. "Emerson Cargo Solutions provides customers with eco-friendly return boxes and pre-paid postage labels. Customers can then place units in the return box and ship back when it’s full."
