"Xinan University studies practices at fresh pear orchard in Xinji, Hebei"

"Chinese pear orchards keep expanding"

The pear is the third most commonly cultivated fruit tree in China after the apple tree and orange tree. The surface area devoted to pear orchards in China has increased in the last few years, but the yield per hectare is still low as a result of inferior plantation technology and improper use of fertilizer. Furthermore, there are many plant diseases and insect pests, and the product quality is low. All these problems directly affect the economic position of Chinese pear farmers.

Many pear orchards in Hebei produce large volumes of high-quality pears. These orchards are responsible for the majority of Chinese pear exports. It is of vital importance for the pear farmers in these areas to escape the difficult export situation.

"The pear production in Hebei decreased as a result of the nationwide cold current on April 6-7th, 2018, as well as the hailstorms in Hebei one month ago. The Imperial Crown pear production areas suffered the most. It is estimated that the production volume in Hebei this year will decrease by as much as 60%-70% in comparison with last year." This is according to Wang Wang of the Zhao County Weiming Specialized Pear Cooperation.
