"China: Pagoda and and Joy Wing Mau attend "2018 Watermelon Festival"

The 2018 Dongtai Sancang Watermelon Festival was held between April 27th and May 1st in Sancang Village, Dongtai 

On April 27th, the organisation of HiFresh brought more than 50 domestic purchase traders to Dongtai, including Pagoda, Xianfeng, Joy Wing Mau, Yuanxing Fruit, and Beijing Miss Fresh.

On April 28th, there was a grand opening ceremony for the Dongtai City Modern Agriculture Demonstration Orchard. The main theme of the activities was "ripe watermelons". The celebration of "International Workers' Day" added to the festivities, which turned into a watermelon-themed carnival with a grand opening ceremony, retail and marketing meeting, signing ceremony, cultural performances, interactive games, and WeChat interaction.

Farmers in Sancang Village began growing watermelons in the 1980's. The industry scaled up, created brands, and developed the watermelon market. The demand of wealthy consumers for small watermelons has created a growing industry. The watermelon plantations in Sancang are the largest in Jiangsu, and among the largest in China. The surface area devoted to watermelon plantations in Sancang is 18,667 hectares this year, with an annual production volume of 1 million tons, and an annual production value of 3 billion yuan [471 million USD].
