Aweta brings better quality control for citrus
Aweta claims to have solved this problem using sensors, and continues to improve upon their solution, Prosort 3 (PS3) by Autoline (CA, USA). Since its beginnings back in 2001, was the starting point and triggered a technology development that is still going on. At that time this sensor became a trend setter.
Many packing houses have decided to take advantage of the technological progress by updating their lines with Aweta's new vision technology, named “Advanced Vision 3D (AV)” where Aweta has coupled a full-colour camera together with an infrared camera, which has the ability to take both infrared and colour images simultaneously at a rate of up to 20 images per fruit, per view.
Aweta's optical technology range includes a total of 5 cameras, three of them for different infrared frequencies and the other two with, respectively, one colour camera and one UV camera, to detect rotten cells at very early stages.
The company claims that by using their system, customers can detect sunburn, wind scars, stems, stem pull, punctures, end checks, texture (puff & crease), clear rot detection (UV) and frost damage.
The vision systems and electronics have been combined also with a new carrier series that can handle products at a speed of up to 15 cups per second. The new carriers allows a constant weight accuracy (1 gram) and a smooth and noiseless product transport.
