Before the frost, the USDA had already reported that EU cherry production would be down by 11% in the 2016/2017 season compared to the previous year.
"INHORT said that they found it difficult to give proper estimates for this year's cherry harvest, due to the great diversity within the geographical production area in Poland. They did say, however, that the crop will be down by at least 30%, which might explain not only the surge in the price of sweet cherries, but in other delicate fruits as well, such as strawberries, peaches and apricots," shared Anita.
"Despite the unfavourable conditions, we have met and spoken with a lot of our customers at recent fairs and seminars and have noticed increased interest in our cherry sorting solutions this year."
Cherry Sorting Machine Model AIR from Sorter, has been designed especially for delicate fruit of diameter of φ 25 to φ 40 mm, which allows for grading and quality analyses of cherry tomatoes or plums.

ViSort analysis the surface of the fruit and detects external defects, for example mechanical damage or bruises, as well as efficiently removing foreign objects,"

During the sorting process, the fruit is gently directed by the air blast towards a proper exit (from 6 to 20) of the sorting machine. High efficiency is guaranteed by the precision and continuity of operation. The output equals up to 500kg/per lane an hour and the customers can choose from 2 to 6 lane models. The equipment such as packing tables or scales can be selected from a variety of optional models." concludes Anita.
