Ghana: Ekumfi Fruits and Juices Ltd to employ thousands of young people

The Ekumfi Fruits and Juices Ltd.’s fruit processing factory is on schedule for completion by the close of the year and to begin operations early next year.

The company is preparing to switch gears to the next phase of cultivation that would see the expansion of its raw material base up to the projected 4,000 acres, which would be needed to feed the factory at full capacity.

The facility, with a capacity to process 10 tons of fruits per hour, hopes to have a very strong raw material supply base, creating sustainable jobs for about 6,000 young people in the Ekumfi district and beyond. Ekumfi is funded by the Exim Bank Ghana Ltd. talks about the company’s five-year strategy; cultivating 4,000 acres of pineapples in many communities in the Ekumfi district, as well as in the neighbouring districts. In all, they should produce 80 million fruits per annum for the processing line.
