Turkey: Grape exports have increased by 43% in 2018

A sizeable increase has been observed in fresh grape exports from Turkey in 2018. Between June 1st and August 15th, 2018, Turkey exported 61,000 tons of grapes for a total price of 40.2 million USD. The ‘Sultani’ variety of seedless grapes made up the bulk of exports with 16.6 million USD, followed by ‘Superior’ variety of grapes with 5.6 millon USD and ‘Yalova pearl’ variety with 2.2 million USD.

These figures represent a 43 % increase compared to the previous year and the growers are predicting this trend will continue in the foreseeable future. Russia has been so far the main export destination for Turkish grapes with a volume of 12 million USD, followed by Germany with 2.2 million USD and Ukrain with 2 million USD.

Aegean Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Exporters Association also reports a 36 % increase in all fresh products their members exported to other countries, which increased from 145 million USD to 197 million USD. The goal of the association is soon to reach 250 million USD in fresh fruit exports.
