Mexico: Colima plantain producers focusing on Asia

The president of the Regional Union of Producers of Plantain, Francisco Hueso Alcaraz, said that thanks to the strategic location of the port of Manzanillo, producers were focused on exporting to the Asian market.

"Producers are focused on all of the countries of the Asian market because of the location of the port of Manzanillo and of the state of Colima," he said.

He also said that the location of the state of Colima was extraordinary to take advantage of the markets of China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, and the Arab Emirates, among others.

"We are selling different fruits to these places, such as plantains, lemon, berries, and avocado, among other products," he added.

Hueso Alcaraz said this was possible thanks to the efforts made by producers in the field, and to the events that the State Government has held for several years, where local producers can negotiate their products with national and international buyers.
