China: Increased import and export through Guangxi port

Data from Nanning Customs shows that Guangxi port imported and exported 667 thousand tons of fresh and dried fruits and nuts (hereafter "fruit") in the first half of 2018. This is an increase of 22.2% in comparison with the same period last year. The import and export value reached 4.1 billion yuan [600 million USD], which is an increase of 63% in comparison with the same period last year. The import volume accounted for 563 thousand tons, which is an increase of 30.1%, with a value of 3.1 billion yuan [450 million USD], which is an increase of 97.2%. The export volume accounted for 104 thousand tons, which is a decrease of 8.3%, with a value of 1 billion yuan [150 million USD], which is an increase of 6.1%.

Vietnam and Thailand were the main trading partners of Guangxi. The import and export between Guangxi and Thailand in particular increased sharply. The main import fruits were watermelon, longan, and durian. The import of durian and mangosteen doubled. The main export fruits were oranges, apples, and tangerines.
