Because volumes were sometimes low, marketers were often able to increase their prices, which did not materially affect sales. In Frankfurt there were Kordia cherries from Switzerland and Reginas from Belgium, which cost a maximum of €4,- per kg. In Berlin, as in the previous week, Polish Satins emerged, thrilling customers with their with its organoleptic properties. In the capital, from time to time some stocks formed, that then quickly declined in quality, something that led to price drops.
Apples
New Zealand and Chile shaped events with their many varieties. In some federal states, the holidays certainly had an effect and demand appeared to be limited. So marketing was not smooth.
Pears
Table grapes
Italy dominated and provided many different varieties. Marketing was quite continuous. Nevertheless, prices tended to slip downwards.
Strawberries
The German fruits almost had a monopoly. Their quality was often very good. Although domestic supplies were limited, they were usually larger than the demand.
Apricots
French as well as Turkish fruit formed the basis of a restricted range of goods, supplemented by both Spanish and Italian goods, but suffering increasingly from a diminishing shelf life.
Peaches and nectarines
Spain dominated, more than Italy. The availability satisfied demand without problems. Quality was not consistent, conditional defects led to price drops.
Plums
There was movement in the sales, because the supply expanded massively: Domestic Katinka and Ersinger early plums as well as Bosnian Cacaks gained in importance enormously.
Kiwis
New Zealand supplies shaped events. The availability effortlessly quelled any demand. The business was without any special highlights and prices remained at their current level.
Lemons
Vernas from Spain set the tone. Argentine lots arrived more and more often in 18 kg cartons. Most of the supply was rather scarce and higher prices often prevailed.
Bananas
Cauliflower
Domestic deliveries dominated the market. Supply was manageable. Since the sale had decelerated, they were more than sufficient.
Lettuce
The iceberg lettuce was primarily domestic. Availability had been slightly limited due to weather conditions. Prices remained reasonable, at previous levels or, thanks the aforementioned limitations, shifted upwards.
Cucumbers
Snake cucumbers were apparently dominated by domestic supplies. Despite a relatively good demand, it was difficult to market all supplies smoothly. This actually led to oversupply.
Tomatoes
The business was dominated by Central Europe supply. The flow of goods did not correlate with sales, often exceeded them. In addition, the holiday season led to additional pressure.
Sweet peppers
The Dutch supply shaped the market. Supply and demand usually harmonized quite nicely. Prices fluctuated to a certain extent, without serious outliers.
Onions
Overall, domestic goods were outclassed by overseas imports from New Zealand and -sometimes- Australia, but they quickly became less relevant and domestic products were gaining in importance.
