China: Price of most agricultural products showed a downward trend in first half of the year

Since the beginning of this year, the supply of agricultural products in China has been generally abundant, and the prices of most agricultural products have continued to decline. According to the monitoring of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, the national "Agricultural Product Wholesale Price 200 Index" was 98.37 in June, down 7.98 points from January.

The price of "vegetable basket" products fluctuated seasonally and fell more and more. After the Spring Festival, the price of vegetables generally maintained a seasonal downward trend. In some areas, certain vegetable varieties suffer from overstocking problems. For example, the price of new garlic fell quite significantly since the new garlic has gone on the market. Some major fruit orchards such as pineapples and lychees have experienced sharp price declines and slow sales.

Affected by factors such as supply and demand fundamentals, policy adjustments and domestic and international market linkages, there is a large uncertainty in the trend of China's agricultural product market in the second half of the year. In particular, summer and autumn are the peak seasons for most agricultural products in China, and the market supply pressure has increased significantly.
