Peru certifies 15 tons of Hass avocado to export to Chile

The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (Minagri), through the National Agrarian Health Service (Senasa), certified fifteen tons of Hass avocados for export to Chile.

The fruit was certified in the Guadalzar SA packing plant, located in the Moquegua district; the Hass avocados didn't host the fruit fly fruit, so they will be exported without fumigation treatment.

SENASA carried out the phytosanitary inspection of the product, verified that the packing boxes had the information of origin or the codes of the corresponding production sites, and that the shipment complied with the mitigation measures for the quarantine pests, such as Ceratitis capitata and Anastrepha spp, demanded by the importing country. The shipment must be free of Ferrisia malvastra, Ferrisia virgata, Nipaecoccus nipae, and Stenoma catenifer.

They also inspected the transport container, which must be clean and have a seal that ensures the phytosanitary protection of the product until it reaches its destination.

The region of Moquegua is free of Stenoma; it is also free of the fruit fly plague, which creates agricultural and economic development opportunities for small producers, who can export this fruit throughout the world without any commercial barriers.

The export of avocado to Chile is possible thanks to the work plan that allows exporting fresh Hass avocado from the regions of Moquegua, Tacna, Ica, Lima, La Libertad, and Arequipa.
